Older house? The septic tanks and leech drains are probably still in your yard. Confirm with Water Corporation (13 13 85 or http://www.watercorporation.com.au ) that your tanks are not in use and we can simply fill them in for you.

Soak wells !! Generally the tops will break if driven over. Either mark them so they can be avoided or have a replacement top handy.

The Water Meter is a common oversight. Know where yours is and if possible mark it with a wooden stake.

Phone lines exit from the side of the house at the front. Quite often they are only two inches below the ground. Ensure yours are deep enough to survive a 3 tonne vehicle driving over it repeatedly.

Don't ever assume that the previous owners did it right !! It will save you a lot of heartache.

Remember that trees have roots ! If your lawn rises towards a tree and you want to level it, the tree may not survive.
